Sophia Sena

Flamenco dancer | Paris

Passionate about flamenco since her first steps in Paris, she traveled to Granada to immerse herself in this complex and captivating art form.
In 2012, she joined the Cristina Heeren Foundation in Seville, where she studied with Javier Barón, Ana Morales, and El Choro. She also studied with Úrsula and Tamara López. She furthered her studies in the bata de cola (flamenco dress with a long train) with the renowned master of this art, Milagros Menjibar.
A graduate of the Cristina Heeren Foundation, she regularly performs as a solo dancer on various stages in France and abroad, including at the famous Parisian flamenco club Flamenco en France.
In the spring of 2017, she toured Colombia with the El Corral Flamenco company to present their show "La Corrala." She then participated in the creation of the show "El Picaporte," blending traditional flamenco with a more contemporary style.
In early 2018, she joined the flamenco ballet company for the opera Carmen, which was performed at the Royal Opera of Wallonia in Liège. In this same world, she dances with the Soleá Company, performing in the famous zarzuelas of Francisco López (El Príncipe de Madrid, La Bella de Cádiz, Andalucía, México, etc.).
She is in demand to collaborate with numerous artists from diverse backgrounds, such as the rock/metal band MEZCLA and Ahmed Larinouna's Arab-Andalusian transcultural music group. She also dances alongside concert pianist Saïda Zulfugarova and Irina Kopylova, a lyricist with the Paris Opera. She has just premiered her new piano and dance performance, "Evocation."
