Anabel Moreno

Flamenco dancer | Madrid

Ana Belén Álvarez Moreno, a flamenco dancer of non-Gypsy descent, was born in El Padul (Granada) in 1979 and began her training at Mariquilla's school (Granada). She later continued her studies with Cristóbal Reyes, Juan Andrés Maya, Javier Varón, Manolete, Belén Maya, Rafaela Carrasco, and finally with the renowned maestro Mario Maya. She has also received training in classical and contemporary dance, as well as drama and music theory.

She has worked with the Mariquilla Ballet and the Juan Andrés Maya Ballet, and was the lead dancer in "Mis Raíces," a show by Juan Andrés Maya for the Granada Music and Dance Festivals (1996). She has also worked in the dance troupe for "El Amor Brujo" and "Flamenco Soy," both shows presented at the 45th edition of the Granada Music and Dance Festivals.

She has worked as a solo flamenco dancer on tour with Curro Albayzín, and in various dance or zambra shows from the Sacromonte region of Granada. In 2003, she presented her own show at La Chumbera and in 2004 she joined Mario Maya's company, performing at the Villamarta Theatre as part of the Jerez de la Frontera Flamenco Festival
