Choni Pérez

Flamenco dancer | Seville

A courageous, imaginative flamenco dancer with exquisite sensitivity… She knows how to give a personal touch to every dance she choreographs, every show she designs. A quintessential artist of the Sevillian school, she doesn't like to simply repeat the past. Dances of yesterday, but renewed and revived for today. She creates works that explore contemporary dance, circus, theater, humor, cabaret… This blend of disciplines has become the hallmark of Choni Cía. Flamenca.

A restless, eclectic creator… Asunción Pérez “Choni” was born in Seville. A graduate of the Seville Higher Conservatory of Music and Dance, she has a long professional career as a soloist and as part of the artistic ensemble of important companies such as those of Mario Maya and Eva Yerbabuena, among others, performing in numerous national and international theaters and festivals.

However, it is with "La Gloria de mi mare" (2010), which garnered numerous awards, and "Compás de Espera" (2015) that the company continues to demonstrate the versatility that characterizes this unique group.

A versatile choreographer, she likes to bet on new evolutionary ingredients, new interpretive formulas and exquisite stage parameters, and she knows how to surround herself with all those who are committed to renewed approaches where disparate forms can coexist, creating risky choreographies of overwhelming beauty and plasticity.
